Making applications to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) or other Higher Education Institutions can be daunting so remember this is what you have been working towards quite often for a long time.  You’ve put in the hard work and this is your chance to put everything you’ve learned into practice.

We understand that there is a lot of information out there and it can be difficult to know who to ask for advice along the way.  We hope that this resource will help to demystify the process and provide you with practical tips enabling you to have a positive experience and, hopefully, be offered the opportunity to study on the course you want to do.

Moving into full-time Conservatoire training from school or college is an exciting time and we hope you are looking forward to starting the next stage of your studies. For some people, it can feel like a big step up. There will be new challenges ahead and new skills and knowledge that you will develop as you go.

We recently spoke to some of our Transitions alumni who are studying on BA and MA courses at RCS to ask them what would have been useful to know or do before starting their course. The Get Ready to Study Resources are a result of this research, and we hope it will be useful as you prepare for your studies.

The Transitions Acting Bridging Course is a 16-week programme of taught and self-directed learning activities and tasks that will enable you to fully prepare for your audition and subsequent studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS). Designed in partnership with the BA Acting teaching team, this is a unique opportunity to build your understanding of the kind of training that actors receive at the RCS and demonstrate your commitment to your own development and learning.
